This support package is intended to provide guidance on any Cash Flow Boost compliance problem that you might have. Working through our guidance is expected to highlight whether the ATO would see you as having a high level of risk or not. You can increase your peace of mind by being assured you have a low level of risk or if your risk is higher be supported in what to do next. This may be to approach the ATO or to seek assistance from your accountant/tax agent. The outcome of the process enables you to develop a clear, relevant and objective form of communication to defend your actions.

The Covid 19 situation has forced radical change to Australia and the world, the like of which most of us would not have contemplated. This has been distressing for many, especially those running small to medium sized businesses. Cash Flow Boost has provided very necessary and timely support.
This support offer is concerned with the Cash Flow Boost measures.
What Deayton Tax Consulting (DTC) is offering is guidance and support for small to medium enterprises in dealing with potential Cash Flow Boost compliance concerns. Your real or perceived risk may be concerning; the disruption, the stress and the cost of an audit would be the last thing that most businesses would want at any time, much less in the current environment.
DTC can help. Our process is designed to guide the business through the various steps that will assist in determining the level of Cash Flow Boost compliance risk. It is based on the ATO’s own published material but the method we use will interpret the language and enable you to assess your circumstances against the various “tests”.
From the point of determining that you may have 1) nothing to worry about, 2) something to be concerned about, through to 3) a potential problem the process will suggest a way forward. If you are unsure, and could have a risk, dealing with it may be the best option. In this scenario you may choose to develop your case and have it ready if an ATO auditor comes knocking through to approaching the ATO to clear the air.
Choosing to notify the ATO quickly and openly may be your best course of action. Obviously a person may not feel comfortable approaching the ATO directly. These reasons may include:
- This is the first time that a business has ever had to make a direct approach to the ATO;
- Poor previous experience;
- Someone has always done this previously on behalf of the business (e.g. your accountant who may no longer be available);
- The person making the ATO contact may be unsure what to say – what information does the ATO require to satisfy themselves that they do not need to proceed with compliance action?
The information that you develop based on our guidance can be used as a “script” when discussing the matter over the phone with the ATO or as the basis of written correspondence. We can provide further support if the ATO requires it to assist ensuring that you put your best case forward. (This may entail extra cost; alternatively you may wish to go to your accountant.) We believe that if you choose the ATO option they will appreciate the process and approach too, mainly because it is designed to save both parties time and money.
To ensure privacy DTC does not want to know a business’ TFN or ABN or any other Government identifier. As well we definitely do not want to upset the relationship between a business and their existing tax advisor. This support is offered as a “one-off”. It is something that we do well, but it is not our core business. We will be charging a nominal fee to ensure that genuine people with genuine issues enquire. We simply wish to help those in dire need of assistance in this testing time.
